With a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale and the capacity to withstand extreme pressure synthetic moissanite was first introduced to the jewellery world in 1998 patented by the US firm Charles & Colvard.

By 2018 all patents expired and synthetically produced jewellery made of moissanite has been officially introduced as the best and most beautiful alternative to diamonds.

Colors of Moissanite

Moissanite’s most common color is the crystal clear hue that we’re accustomed to seeing with diamonds. However, owing to it being an entirely synthetic gemstone, it can be created in a wide range of colors, from blue or green to orange or pink.

Other interesting facts about Moissanite

Synthetic moissanite is an eco- and energy-friendly alternative to mined diamonds, and a moissanite stone takes on many of the attributes that a diamond boasts. Firstly, it’s a remarkably strong material, and secondly, it can be cut in the same way and boasts almost the same refractive index as a diamond.

Furthermore, they’re conflict-free as standard, something which has long been an issue with naturally-mined diamonds. They’re also super durable, remarkably attractive, and can be cut and styled in the exact same way as a real diamond.
